Tunic, 3 Durham Rifle Volunteers
Officer's Full Dress Tunic, 3rd Durham Rifle Volunteers, 1863-1870. This scarlet jacket has blue facings (collar and cuffs), silver buttons and Lieutenant Colonel's rank badges on the collar. The badge on the left sleeve is for marksmanship (good shooting). The 3rd Durham Rifle Volunteers was formed in Sunderland in 1860 and was the ancestor of the 7th (Territorial) Battalion DLI.
