Rowlands Gill, coke oven site
Victoria Coking Plant, Whinfield Works, Rowlands Gill. Plaque commemorating the last beehive coke ovens to operate in Great Britain, operated from 1860-1958. The works had 192 ovens in 1958 with a capacity of 95,000 tons of coal. Beamish Museum photograph.
