Sacriston Colliery
View showing steel headgear (left) brought from Lynemouth Colliery in 1955, winding engine house built 1881 (extended 1944) and the electric generating power station built about 1896. The station housed three generators in use until 1935 when cables laid from Dunston supplied the colliery and village lighting. AC power was not supplied to Sacriston village until 1957.
