Durham Cathedral, interior, Bede's tomb

The Venerable Bede (673-735), monk of Jarrow, was the first English theologian, historian and man of letters. The tomb is inscribed 'HAC SUNT IN FOSSA BAEDAE VENERABILIS OSSA' (Here are the bones of the Venerable Bede). One of a set of Raphael Tuck souvenir postcards.
