Sketch, 68 Light Infantry

Ink sketch of Gate Pah, April 1864. This was drawn by Lieutenant Horatio Robley, who served with the 68th Light Infantry in New Zealand during the Second Maori War, 1864-1866, and fought in the battle at Gate Pah. This Maori fort was assaulted by British forces, including Robley's Regiment, on 29 April 1864. The attack failed at a cost of over 100 killed and wounded. Acc No: 420
