Officer's Mess Jacket, 3rd Battalion DLI, 1881-1902. This scarlet jacket with white facings (collar and cuffs) has a Lieutenant's rank badges on the shoulders and the buttons bear the DLI's bugle horn. The 3rd Battalion DLI was formed in 1881 from the South Durham Militia at Barnard Castle in south-west County Durham. Acc No: 1014
